On Monday, don't miss the incredible lecture by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish called I Shall Not Hate. It will be held at Harcourt United Church, 81 Dean Ave, just a short walk from campus. Dr. Abuelaish is an engaging and inspiring speaker who tells the story of his struggle and his response to the death of his children when his house was hit by a rocket.
Here is what some have said about his talk - I just saw Izzeldin speak at TEDxWaterloo where he received an emotional and well deserved standing ovation for his Talk. Impressive man and a great speaker. Can't wait for him to come to Guelph Don't miss it. It is only $10 for students at the door! It starts at 7:30 p.m. As well don't miss the great opportunity to let off some steam and enjoy "Jammin with the Monks". Join us on Tuesday April 3 from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. in Peter Clark Hall. The Hare Krishna Chanters will offer a concert with Drums and Kirtans, celebrating Yoga Philosophy. Free vegan snacks are available! Welcome to the new website of Campus Ubuntu - experiencing ubuntu on campus. What is ubuntu? There is no single English word for it. It comes from the aboriginal people of South Africa and it means interrelatedness, interdependence, radically compassionate community and profound commitment to the well-being of all. Join us as we try to build bridges of compassion and care, justice and peace. We are based at the campus of the University of Guelph and hope to form bonds across many individuals by providing them an open forum for safe and judgment-free discussion, fellowship and friendship.
Inspirational and thought provoking youtube videos help us to explore 'ubuntu'. The Charter for compassion! For a fuller explanation see the Forum page and look under who we are and what we are about.

I suppose that's important... ECM stands for Ecumenical Campus Ministry. However, it seems that no one really seemed to get what ecumenical actually meant. Plus it's an old word that sounds all 'Churchy' . Same with the word 'ministry' - so we ditched them both. While we were looking for a new name that espoused all the virtues we were trying to get across, ECM stuck. And the new name, the new word is 'Ubuntu'. So there you have it.
